Standards Assessed

(1) Creativity and innovation. The student uses creative thinking and innovative processes to construct knowledge and develop digital products. The student is expected to:
(B) analyze trends and forecast possibilities, developing steps for the creation of an innovative process or product.

(5) Digital citizenship. The student practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical behavior while using digital tools and resources. The student is expected to:
(A) adhere to acceptable use policies reflecting positive social behavior in the digital environment; and
(B) respect the intellectual property of others.

(6) Technology operations and concepts. The student demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of technology systems, concepts, and operations. The student is expected to:
(D) troubleshoot minor technical problems with hardware and software using available resources such as online help and knowledge bases.

  • Understand how to use keyword functions to find information to problem solve on the internet.
  • Understand that technology around them is constantly changing, be able to predict how the changes will occur.
  • Understand what a digital footprint is and why it important to keep it small.

  • Know how to self problem solve by searching for answers on the internet.

Performance Tasks  (main subject integration: Art)

  • Goal: Students will create a short iMovie on a Middle Eastern country, the iMovie will be an advertisement for tourism for their assigned country.
  • Role: The student will be the video editor.
  • Audience: Teachers, peers and parents. The fifth grade videos will be on a loop on a standing TV for Spring Arts Day.
  • Situation: Students will be assigned a Middle Eastern country, using iMovie they will create a short (60-90 seconds) tourism advertisement video.
  • Product: Their tourism video will include a voice over, a map of where their country is, popular cultural items, famous land marks and tourism activities.
