EdTech Teacher Philosophy
My vision for technology in the classroom is to teach students how to use their devices and the digital world as a learning tool to ensure every student benefits from a personalized and engaging learning experience. I provide an interactive, meaningful experience that creates an environment where students can learn at their own pace, actively seeking out new information and let their curiosity direct their learning. I strive to prepare students to be ethical learners who are self-monitoring, self-modifying, self-managing, self-evaluating, and self-directing.
General Teaching Philosophy
My vision for every classroom is to create an environment where students can learn at their own pace, actively seeking out new information while allowing their curiosity to direct their learning. I strive to ensure every student benefits from a personalized and engaging learning experience. I believe in providing an interactive, stimulating experience that creates an environment where students can use the tools and resources given to them to be creative in their learning process. This allows for students to become ethical learners who are managers and directors of their own learning.
EdTech Coach/Coordinator Philosophy
I believe in coaching to each teacher’s passion. I feel it is essential to make learning exciting and personalized for each teacher while at the same time providing skills that will be needed in the future. I engage teachers to actively participate in their ongoing education and encourage them to find their passion to be lifelong learners. I encourage teacher creativity and ownership by providing a variety of resources and support, and allowing them to choose the best way to teach for them and their students.
Leadership Philosophy
As a leader, I will do my best, to be honest, transparent, forthcoming, and active in two-way communication with all school community members. I believe it is important to foster a culture that celebrates diversity and a difference of opinions. I have faith in my colleagues and trust them to make decisions that reflect best practices. I hold myself and my colleagues to high ethical standards and continually seek ways to improve my leadership skills, as well as coaching teachers to continually improve and provide leadership opportunities for others to grow and share responsibility for attaining school goals. I will be proactive in educating myself on relevant laws, regulations, and best teaching practices that I can share with my colleagues.
500 Word Cover Letter
It is important to me to be a lifelong learner. I am always looking for opportunities to increase my knowledge as an educator, EdTech Coach and as a world citizen. I accomplish this goal by being self-motivated, creative and collaborative in embracing challenges and change.
I grew up overseas attending an international school in Saudi Arabia, then went on to attend an international boarding school in Bahrain. I feel this gives me a unique perspective and helps connect with students of international schools. I love living in an environment that allows me to interact with people of different cultures and backgrounds.
I have 13 years experience as an EdTech educator, coach, integrator and coordinator. I have taught EdTech classes for all grades levels from Pre-Kinder Engineering to Grade 12 AP 2D Design. I have implemented and coordinated a 1:1 iPad program for grades 1-5 as well as a fully integrated EdTech curriculum.
I believe in teaching to each student’s passion. I feel it is essential to make learning exciting and personalized for each student while at the same time teaching the student skills that they will need in the future. I engage students to actively participate in their education and encourage them to find their passion for learning. I encourage student creativity and ownership by having all projects student-centered, teaching students a variety of tools, and allowing them to choose the right tool for them and for the project. This allows for students to become producers in the learning process as well as self-monitoring, self-modifying, self-managing, self-evaluating, and self-directing.
I provide an interactive, meaningful experience that creates an environment where students can learn at their own pace, actively seeking out new information, locally and globally. I strive to prepare students to be ethical learners who show respect for their peers and the global community. I encourage and support the use of online learning platforms and apps that allow for a personalized learning experience for each student. Each student receives work based on their level, without others knowing what level they are on. The instant feedback to parents and teachers provides much-needed real-time data on where the student is. The gamification aspect allows the digital native students to learn with the instant gratification of earning points, digital badges, and have fun while learning.
I am a Google Certified Trainer and Apple Teacher. I am very eager and love sharing my knowledge and skills with others. I lead monthly in-house PD and weekly teacher tech support workshops. I am very passionate about coaching teachers in integrating EdTech and STEAM activities into main subject classes to enhance the learning experience and to create deeper learning. Supporting and encouraging teachers in the vast world of technology is critical to any learning environment.
I pride myself in being active in the school’s community, both academically and non-academically. For a full list of work responsibilities, accomplishments, letters of recommendation and a portfolio of my lessons, please visit my website: www.mssarahcornelius.com
